MEET JOHN
A LIFE DEDICATED TO PUBLIC SERVICE.
John Lorenzini is a retired New York State Court Officer who has called Wappinger home since 1996.
Raised in Mahopac, New York, John began his commitment to public service as a volunteer firefighter alongside his father. After moving to Wappinger, he continued that commitment through local government and volunteer fire service.
John joined the Wappinger Zoning Board of Appeals as a general member in 2020 and became chairman in 2024. In this role, he has worked directly on local issues affecting residents' homes, neighborhoods, properties, and quality of life. He believes in common-sense decision-making and responsible planning that respects the character of the community.
John has also been a member of the Hughsonville Volunteer Fire Department since 2013. He joined alongside his son, Alex, who was then a teenager participating in the Firefighter Explorer program. John has served as Chairman of the Board of Fire Commissioners and Company Vice President, and he received a First Responder Award in 2024.
John has been married to Peg for 30 years, and they have two children: Alex, a retired United States Marine Corps Staff Sergeant, and Sarah, an environmental science and energy professional. Both children were raised in Wappinger.
